Thompson to Visit DePaul

The DePaul Blue Demons have a need on the interior in their 2014-15 lineup. They look to address that need as a 6-11 big man visits the Lincoln Park campus this weekend. Learn more in this report.

DePaul's answer to that need could very well be Shevon Thompson, a 6-11 big man from Harcum College in Philadelphia. Thompson has been on DePaul's radar for awhile now and could bolster the Blue Demons' frontcourt .

The Harcum College Bears just wrapped up a record setting season after they advanced to the NJCAA Final Four in Hutchinson, Kansas last month. The Bears finished with a school record 32 wins. Among the college coaches on hand to watch Harcum was DePaul head coach Oliver Purnell. While there Purnell and his staff kept a close eye on Thompson.

"It was a wonderful experience, especially being in the Final Four," said Thompson.

Shevon plans on signing a national letter of intent during the spring signing period which began on Wednesday. Among other schools showing interest in Thompson are FIU, George Mason, and Old Dominion.

The 6-11, 220 lb. big man arrived in the United States from Clarendon, Jamaica two years ago and has been playing organized basketball for just four years now.

Shevon has proven to be a beast on the boards. During his sophomore season at Harcum, Thompson broke the school's single season rebounding record with 414 boards eclipsing the old record of 304.
