Develle Phillips verbally committed to DePaul basketball coach Oliver Purnell today while on the DePaul campus for his official visit.
The 6-9, 215 lb. combo forward is a Scout.com 3-star prospect from Clinton Christian School in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. Phillips is a long, athletic forward, who runs the floor well and can face up and score.
Phillips starred for the D.C. Premier AAU program this past spring and summer.
Phillips had also received interest from Cincinnati, Maryland, Rhode Island, Rutgers, Towson, Xavier, and West Virginia.
DePaul has had some success with recruiting the greater D.C. area, including last year’s standouts Brandon Young and Cleveland Melvin. Blue Demon sophomore Darrick Wood, who came to DePaul via Hutchinson, KS junior college, also originally hails from the D.C. area.
