DePaul added 6-1 junior guard David Molinari and 6-5 freshman forward Joe Hanel to the team.
With 11 players on scholarship plus walk-on players Cory Dolins and Peter Ryckbosch returning for this season, the addition of Molinari and Hanel gives DePaul coach Oliver Purnell 15 players available.
Molinari’s name will be a familiar one to many DePaul fans. David is the son of former DePaul assistant coach (and current Nebraska assistant coach) Jim Molinari.
David starred for Peoria Notre Dame High School and signed with the Division III Illinois Wesleyan University Titans in 2011. Molinari will be wearing number 10 for the Blue Demons this season.
Molinari won’t get a chance to the attempt the play depicted in the below video in a game, but he might want to consider a career as a long snapper in the NFL.
Joe Hanel comes to DePaul from Holy Family Catholic High Scholl in Victoria, Minnesota.
Hanel chose to walk on at DePaul after receiving offers from Division II and III schools.
He was ranked as the 33rd best player in the state of Minnesota by NorthStar Hoops Report.
Below is Hanel’s highlight video from his time at Holy Family…
