DePaul to Face Penn State in Gavitt Games

The Blue Demons will meet the Penn State Nittany Lions in November as part of the inaugural Big East vs. Big Ten Gavitt Tipoff Games.

DePaul will travel to Happy Valley, Pennsylvania to face Penn State at the Bryce Jordan Center on November 17th.

The game will be televised by either Big Ten Network or ESPN as part of the Gavitt Tipoff Games that will pit eight Big East teams against counterparts from the Big Ten.

Other matchups to take place from November 17th to the 20th include:

Xavier vs. Michigan

Creighton vs. Indiana

Rutgers vs. St. John's

Illinois vs. Providence

Nebraska vs. Villanova

Iowa vs. Marquette

Dates and game times will be announced at a later date.

The series honors the late Dave Gavitt who was the founding commissioner of the Big East conference.

DePaul will face two Big Ten opponents next season as they are also scheduled to host the Northwestern Wildcats at Allstate Arena on Saturday, December 19th.

The Blue Demons own a 80-66 all-time record against Big Ten opponents. Northwestern is the most common opponent with the Blue Demons holding a 20-10 edge in that series.

The last time the Blue Demons faced the Nittany Lions was December 12, 1984. DePaul was victorious on the road by a score of 78-61.
