Frederick Scott has verbally accepted a scholarship offer to play for the Blue Demons. Look for him to sign with DePaul next week and start attending summer classes.
Scott committed to DePaul coach Dave Leitao today.
“I felt it was a great opportunity to play for a new coach and to stay back at home,” said Scott. “My parents are going to be able to come to my games. It’s a great opportunity for my education and on the court.”
Scott caught the eye of the DePaul coaching staff while playing on the Adidas Gauntlet circuit this spring. The unsigned senior from Simeon was averaging 19.6 pts. and 9.4 rebounds per game in the Dallas Adidas event in April while playing for the Running Rebels.
Frederick chose DePaul over offers from Bradley and Temple University, where he recently visited.
He was also receiving interest from Arizona State, Arkansas, Buffalo, Colorado, Evansville, Kent State and Virginia.
Scott becomes the first Simeon Wolverine to play for DePaul since Bobby Simmons came on board in 1998.
Scott will join will join Elijah Cain, Develle Phillips, and Oumar Barry in the 2015 recruiting class for Leitao and the Blue Demons.
