Devin Gage Having MVP Summer

On Tuesday night, while Steph Curry was on his way to being named MVP of the NBA Finals, a high school guard from Chicago was receiving his own MVP honors.

Curie point guard Devin Gage has battled his way back from a knee injury and stood out on Monday and Tuesday at the DePaul Team Camp at the Quest Center on Chicago’s west side.

Gage led the Curie Condors to win the camp championship. In recognition of his efforts, Gage was named the camp’s Most Valuable Player.

“It was very exciting, because last year we didn’t get to win it and I’m MVP of the DePaul Team Camp,” Gage said.

Gage, who has a scholarship offer from DePaul, is also receiving interest from Bradley, Iowa, IUPUI, Ohio, Rhode Island, St. Louis, Toledo, UIC, and West Virginia.

Gage will be back on the AAU circuit this summer with MeanStreets.

As they displayed at the Team Camp, Curie has enough talent and swagger to make a run at the Chicago Public League title during Gage’s senior year.

“We can be really good. We’ve got a lot of young talent.”
