DePaul Unveils 2015-16 Non-Conference Slate

CHICAGO – A variety of locales await the 2015-16 edition of the DePaul Blue Demons as the non-conference schedule takes the team from the Virgin Islands to the San Francisco Bay. DePaul starts the season on Nov. 14 in Lincoln Park against Western Michigan in the first of five home non-conference contests.

“This non-conference schedule will provide our team many opportunities and put our team in many different situations to prepare us for the BIG EAST schedule,” said head coach Dave Leitao. “We have a challenging start with five of our first six games away from home. Our schedule features some local opponents in UIC, Chicago State and Northwestern as well as games at Stanford and home against George Washington.”

Stanford was the NIT Champion last season and the upcoming game is rematch from a year ago between the Blue Demons and Cardinal. DePaul knocked off visiting Stanford, 87-72, on Nov. 30 at Allstate Arena. George Washington also qualified for the NIT and advanced to the second round.

Following the opener at McGrath-Phillips Arena, the Blue Demons play at Penn State as part of the Gavitt Tipoff Games between the BIG EAST and Big Ten before three games in the Paradise Jam from Nov. 20-23. In the first two games in St. Thomas, the Blue Demons face South Carolina and either Florida State or Hofstra. The other four teams playing at the University of the Virgin Islands are Indiana State, Norfolk State, Ohio and Tulsa.

December opens with a short trip down Halsted Street to UIC on Dec. 2 before DePaul plays its Allstate Arena opener on Dec. 5 against Chicago State. The Chicago State games not only begins the 36th season of DePaul basketball in Rosemont, but it is also the 500th contest in program history at the facility.

After a Dec. 9 contest at Drake, the Blue Demons conclude the non-conference schedule with three of four at home. DePaul hosts Arkansas-Little Rock at McGrath-Phillips Arena on Dec. 12 before a game at Stanford on Dec. 15. Home games against Northwestern on Dec. 19 and George Washington on Dec. 22 conclude the non-BIG EAST portion of the schedule.

The BIG EAST schedule will once again feature nine home and nine road games against the conference affiliates. The conference schedule along with radio and television information for all games will be announced as it is finalized.
