Jeriah Horne has been a top priority for DePaul coach Dave Leitao. The 6-7 forward from Overland Park, Kansas visited DePaul over the weekend and came away with a favorable impression of the school and the city of Chicago.
“I had a good time with the players and the coaches,” Horne said. “I liked the city of Chicago as well. It was my first time getting a chance to visit Chicago. It was a different feel from Overland Park, Kansas. It’s bigger and has a lot more going on. There was a lot more people around and the scenery was breathtaking.”
Horne got a chance to take in all of the sights of the Windy City.
“It reminded me of New York in a way,” said Jeriah. “I’ve also been to California for an official visit to Pepperdine. It was kind of a mix of Cali and New York to me.”
Horne and his parents had an opportunity to spend a lot of time with Blue Demons coach Dave Leitao.
“(Leitao) told me that he liked my game and how versatile I am,” said Horne. “He talked about how I can become a mismatch problem, being able to play the three and the four, and felt that I would fit in well with his offense.”
Versatility and his unselfishness on the floor are two of Horne’s biggest strengths.
“I feel that I play well in a system,” said jeriah. “I can pass the ball and find an open guy. I play hard and I play with energy, and I try to get my teammates involved.”
There isn’t much that Horne needs to improve on with his game, but he’d like to become more agile.
“I need to work on my agility and being able to guard smaller players.”
Horne will choose between DePaul, Kansas State, Nebraska, Pepperdine, and Wichita State.
He visited Manhattan, Kansas to see Kansas State two weeks ago.
“Kansas State went well,” said Horne. “I had a good time there with the players.”
Next up for Horne is a visit to Nebraska on September 25th. Also in the works could be a visit to Wichita State.
“I’m still in the process of figuring my last visit out,” said Horne. “I will be making a decision in October. It depends on how it all works out.”
