Gage, Curie Win First IHSA State Championship

Future DePaul Blue Demon Devin Gage and his fellow Curie Condors defeated the Benet Redwings 65-59 on Saturday night at the Peoria Civic Center to secure their first IHSA Class 4A state championship.

The Condors, who trailed by as many as 12 points, rallied in the third quarter behind a solid performance by Gage.  Devin had a trio of three pointers during a 19-0 run in the second half for Curie. 

Gage led all scorers with 23 points, including nine points in the third quarter.    He shot four of six from beyond the arc and went eight of 14 overall from the field. Gage also collected three rebounds, two assists, and two steals.

Junior Elijah Joiner, who is also being recruited by DePaul, added 10 points.  Treavon Martin racked up a double-double of 10 points and 14 rebounds.  Sophomore Landers Nolley II also chipped in with 10 points for the Condors.
