Tre’Darius McCallum, a 6-7, 215 lb. forward from Indian Hills junior college in Iowa, gave his pledge to the Blue Demons during his official visit to DePaul’s Lincoln Park campus.
In his sophomore campaign at Indian Hills, McCallum averaged 11.8 points and 6.3 rebounds per game. He also shot very well from beyond the arc at a rate of 40.8 percent.
McCallum originally hails from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He spent one year at Indian Hills after transferring from Sheridan (Wyoming) junior college.
Tre helped Indian Hills achieve a ranking of sixth in the nation and advance to the NJCAA tournament in Hutchinson, Kansas this season.
The addition of McCallum gives the Blue Demons six new faces for next season. He joins Levi Cook, Brandon Cyrus, Al Eichelberger, Chris Harrison-Docks, and Devin Gage in DePaul’s 2016 recruiting class.
Lewis transfer Max Strus will sit out his transfer season and will be eligible for the 2017-18 season.
McCallum gives the Blue Demons some much needed help in the front court for the 2016-17 and has demonstrated the versatility to play either the power forward or small forward position.
