Devin Gage is going to have to install some more shelf space in his home on the Southwest side of Chicago to make room for all of the awards that he’s won this season.
There was a sign of things to come when Gage won the MVP Award of the DePaul Team Camp back in June of last year as he led the Curie Condors to the camp championship title.
In December, Gage followed that up with the A.C. Williamson Memorial Trophy as the MVP of the Pontiac Holiday Tournament after the Condors won the tournament championship.
In January, Gage was given the Chicago Tribune / WGN-TV Athlete of the Month award for December.
Gage and his Condor teammates then went on to win the IHSA Class 4A state championship in Peoria in March, giving Curie their first state title ever.
Since then, Gage was named to the IBCA All-State First Team for classes 3A and 4A. Gage was also named to the All-State First Team for classes 3A and 4A by the Associated Press.
Devin was named to the Chicago Sun-Times’ All-State First Team for class 4A.
The Chicago Tribune named Gage to their All-State Second Team.
Comcast Sports Net named Gage the sixth best player in the state of Illinois.
Gage has been named to several All-star games in the Chicago area. He was voted to the Chicago Public League All-Star game, but did not play in that event. Devin did play in the City-Suburban All-Star game a few weeks ago.
Gage has also been named to the Chicago High School Basketball Showcase game which will be played on Saturday afternoon.
Yet for all of those honors and awards, there is one that Gage values over all of the others.
"A state championship," Gage said.
