Game Preview

Sunday’s game will be the first time that the Blue Demons are facing Robert Morris.  Please note that this is not Robert Morris University of Illinois, which competes in NAIA.  We are talking about the Robert Morris Colonials from Moon, Pennsylvania, which is located outside of Pittsburgh.

The Colonials are coming off a tough season where they finished 10-22 and ended up with a RPI of 290.  It was an aberration for coach Andy Toole, who had never had a losing season in his six years as head coach at RMU.

This season, Toole has restocked his roster with a number of newcomers to go along with three returning starters. He also has the return of forward Aaron Tate, who missed most of last season due to injury.

Returning this season are guards Isaiah Still (9.9 points per game), Kavon Steward (9.2 ppg), Matty McConnell (6.8 ppg), and senior forward Billy Giles (8.8 ppg and 5.1 rebounds per game).

One of the newcomers for the Colonials this season is junior college transfer Lorenzen Wright, Jr., the son of the late NBA star Lorenzen Wright, Sr.

Braden Burke, a 6-11 freshman big man from Stevensville, Michigan, will be good enough to make the starting lineup for RMU.

The Colonials have been picked to finish in sixth place in the Northeast Conference this season.

In Friday night's season opener, Penn defeated Robert Morris 67-50. Still led the Colonials by scoring 15 points and grabbing six rebounds.

Burke scored eight points on four of eight shooting in his freshmen debut.  Giles came in off the bench to contribute seven points and four rebounds in the losing effort.
