DePaul Adds Forward for 2017

DePaul coach Dave Leitao picked up a verbal commitment from a 6-8 forward for the class of 2017 today.

Paul Reed, a 6-8, 180 lb. forward from Wekiva High School in Apopka, Florida, made up his mind to commit to DePaul while on his official visit in Lincoln Park.

"It felt like the right fit," Reed said of his decision.  "I can see myself being successful there.  I'm excited about my new teammates and I'm excited about the new arena."
Reed chose the Blue Demons over offers from Central Florida, Clemson, Kansas State, Murray State, and Rutgers.

Paul played on the Adidas AAU Circuit with the Showtime Ballers and attracted late interest from DePaul.

Reed sees himself as a combo forward at the next level.

"I can play the three or the four," said Reed. "I can rebound, shoot, dribble a little. I try to play like Kevin Durant."

Reed does a nice job on the glass and frequently racks up double-double performances.

Earlier in the week, Wekiva scored a 59-57 win over Central Florida Christian Academy behind 18 points and 12 rebounds from Reed.

Today's snowy weather in Chicago did nothing to discourage the Florida native from joining the Blue Demons.

Reed joins forward Jaylen Butz and point guard Justin Roberts in the 2017 recruiting class for the Blue Demons.

DePaul now has one scholarship remaining for the 2017 spring signing period.
