Heirman Joins DePaul Staff

What’s been rumored for months is now happening this week as La Lumiere School basketball coach Shane Heirman will join Dave Leitao’s staff as an assistant coach.

Heirman is fresh off a 27-1 season with the La Lumiere Lakers where he won the 2017 national high school championship.  In his three seasons at La Lumiere, Heirman compiled an impressive record of 76-7.

Heirman has coached many ranked players during his time at the LaPorte, Indiana school including 2017 McDonald’s All-American Brian Bowen and current sophomore Tyger Campbell, both of whom are being recruited by DePaul.

He also coached current Blue Demon freshmen - Brandon Cyrus and Al Eichelberger at La Lumiere.

Shane replaces assistant coach Patrick Sellers, who has left DePaul to pursue other opportunities.

Heirman is a graduate of the University of Tulsa where he played for the Golden Hurricane.  He is from McHenry, Illinois and attended Marian Central Catholic High School.
