Desean Butler Down to Two

TRENTON, N.J. -- With teammate Kasiem Drummond already off the board to Villanova, DeSean Butler of Bloomfield Tech H.S. in New Jersey may not be too far behind.

Butler, a versatile 6-7 forward, has narrowed his choices to a pair of Big East programs, DePaul and West Virginia. Both programs had coaches eyeballing Butler last week at the third session of the Eastern Invitational Basketball Camp.

Butler scored 16 points to help the Blue team emerge with a 97-95 victory over the White team last Sunday. After the game, he said he may wait until September to reach a decision.

"I know both coaches well," Butler said. "I know Coach Wainwright (DePaul) well, and Coach Beilein (West Virginia) is a good coach who I've known since my sophomore year."

Butler said he plans on taking official visits to both schools before finalizing his college plans.

Both programs had been seen watching Butler play over the summer. Butler has maintained for a while his serious interest in the DePaul basketball program. Desean stated the rich tradition of the DePaul program was one of the factors of why his interest in the Blue Demons' was so serious.
