Will Walker Verbals to Big East School

There is a Will. For Will Walker, is the way to the DePaul Blue Demons? It would seem so. Will Walker, the heralded 6-0 PG from Bolingbrook, Illinois has made up his mind on where he will play basketball for the next four years. "I feel real comfortable," Walker replied when asked how he feels about his decision. Walker's official visit with DePaul over the Labor Day weekend went very well and he now has a new home.

Walker enjoyed his time with Jerry Wainwright and staff along with the Blue Demons players. "They made me feel real comfortable, they are really nice people."

Walker spent Saturday with Cliff Clinkscales and Lorenzo Thompson as his escorts around the campus, and he had his parents come on Sunday. He did not get to scrimmage, as DePaul was holding Freshman Orientation this weekend. But after long talks with Jerry Wainwright, Walker sees the opportunities at DePaul. "He (Wainwright) said he would want me to be a scorer. He said, they need some shooters". Walker is a point guard by trade, but come next year DePaul will have Cliff Clinkscales and also at times Jabari Currie manning the point. So come next year, Walker won't have the responsibility of running point right away, making the transition as a freshman that much easier. He will ease into his role by becoming more of a scorer. Don't get fooled. Walker can make a great combo guard because he can handle the ball and shoot when needed.

Walker will make the second player Jerry Wainwright has given a scholarship to that will make up his first recruiting class. Wainwright already has accepted Keith Butler, a 7-1 center, from Temple as a transfer. So at this point that leaves one left to give out. Who will that be? Perhaps Walker's Illinois Wolves AAU teammate Devan Bawinkel? Maybe, but the staff has their eyes also on DeSean Butler along with Thijin Moses as well. With Walkers commitment, you can also expect them to stop recruiting 5-7 PG Jerome Randle, who may have his eyes set on Tulsa.

From all indications, it also seems Walker is a good student who will have no problem qualifying. So with his college choice in tuck, Walker can concentrate on his senior year at Bollingbrook High School.

Walker chose to announce his decision to attend DePaul during the Chicagoland Television SportsPage show on Monday night.
