Desean Butler Takes Visit & Receives Visitors

Bloomfield (NJ) Tech swingman Desean Butler has been down to two schools - DePaul & West Virginia. In this update from WeAreDePaul.com's Dan Stack, Butler talks about his recent unofficial visit to West Virginia, a recent in-home visit that he received, setting up a future visit and his timetable for a decision on his basketball future.

DeSean Butler's choices are down to two schools - DePaul and West Virginia. That much we know. Finding out more is difficult. He likes both schools a lot. Butler just got back from a trip from Morgantown, West Virginia after unofficially visiting the campus this past weekend. "It was pretty good, got to meet all the coaches and players," Butler said. He added "They are a solid group of guys". He got to know the WVU team well and likes the camaraderie they share on and off the court.

Also, DePaul's staff led by Jerry Wainwright just scored an in home visit with Butler on Monday, September 12th . As you know, Wainwright and DePaul assistant coach Gary DeCesare have been recruiting Desean since his sophomore year, while they were coaching at Richmond. So the visit was quite a familiar setting for Butler. "It went real good. It's pretty much the same thing. Like the situation was at Richmond, the way he recruited me. Pretty much same as last time. He said he is not going to come in and tell me the same thing, cause that's why he was recruiting me there. He pretty much holds the same rules."

Instead of visiting the DePaul campus in Chicago in late October, Desean has decided to move up his visit. He will either be on campus on the weekend of September 23rd or the first weekend in October. Butler is pretty excited about the trip. " I want to see the school cause I heard good things about it. I heard it's a real good school. And I already know the coaches well. I just want to get to know the players, the school and see how I would fit in." Since Butler has yet to take the SAT exam, his trip to the Windy City will be an unofficial visit.

After the visit he envisions making a pledge to either DePaul or West Virginia soon thereafter. Stay tuned to Scout.com for the latest on Butler's decision.
