Devan Bawinkel – One Visit Down, Another on Tap

Winnebago High (Illinois) guard Devan Bawinkel is down to three schools – DePaul, Georgetown, & West Virginia. In this report, Bawinkel talks with Scout.com about his latest school visit and what the next move is for the young man as he determines his future basketball career.

After spending the weekend of September 17th in Morgantown, Devan Bawinkel enjoyed himself. "It went good," said Bawinkel. "I met with Coach Beilein and got a good feel for him. I got to know the players and the campus. They talked about where I'd fit in within the team, what I'd do, and how I'd fit the system basically. We got to play a little bit too."

While Bawinkel did not commit to WVU during the visit, it was a good weekend for the Mountaineers as they defeated Maryland 31-19 in football.

One thing working in West Virginia's favor is Beilein's offense. "I liked it," Devan remarked. "They run a similar offense that I've been around at my high school."

The next step for Bawinkel is an official visit to Georgetown on October 15th for the Hoyas Midnight Madness.

Both WVU coach John Beilein and Georgetown coach John Thompson III spent time with Bawinkel at his high school last week.

Bawinkel has already taken unofficial visits to DePaul and will look at scheduling an official visit to DePaul University after the Georgetown visit in mid-October. He anticipates making a decision on his future by early November at the latest.
