Felicia Chester Commits to DePaul

Felicia Chester, a 6-2 senior forward at Incarnate Word Academy in St. Louis, Missouri has decided to attend DePaul University next year. Felicia will play basketball for Coach Doug Bruno's Blue Demons beginning in 2006. Chester joins Joliet Catholic Academy guard Samantha Quigley in the Demons' 2006 recruiting class. Chester had also considered a scholarship offer from Marquette.

Felicia spent the summer playing on the AAU circuit for the Matthews-Dickey Hoops team. She was named to the 2005 Missouri Basketball Coaches Association Girls' All-State team as a junior.

Incarnate Word coach Dan Rolfes sees Chester as a good acquisition for the Blue Demons. "She's a 6-2, kind of longer, lanky, athletic four player," described Rolfes. "A great shot blocker. She's getting about four blocks per game. She already has the school record for shots blocked (after her junior year). She also led our team in steals. She's a real good athlete with good footwork, anticipates very well. She's really a versatile defender. We'll have her guard guards and defend the post also."

For Felicia, her best may be yet to come. "I think that she'll continue to improve playing against the top-notch talent that Doug's going to have on a daily basis. That will get her to the next level. On this level she's not been able to get in the weight room as much as she needed. I think that will help her also."

In last year's KMOX Shop & Save Shootout, Chester had 19 points and 5 blocks in a win over Belleville (IL) East.
