Desean Butler Makes His Decision

Desean Butler, a 6-foot-6, 205-pound Bloomfield Tech (N.J.) senior small forward has made a decision on his collegiate basketball future. Butler reached his decision after taking unofficial visits to DePaul and West Virginia in September. In this report, Scout.com tells you where Butler is headed.

The West Virginia Mountaineers continue to score on the recruiting trail. After building on its successful Elite Eight run of last spring, West Virginia Men's Basketball Coach John Beilein is getting it done with recruiting by scooping up 6-6 wing forward DeSean Butler of Newark, New Jersey this weekend. Adding to an already impressive recruiting class.

Butler's mind is made up on West Virginia. "It was closer to home. The team, the coaching style, they have the whole package," Butler said on what sold West Virginia over DePaul.

Butler has notified DePaul head coach Jerry Wainwright of his decision. "I called him about an hour ago, and let him know." Butler had just come back from DePaul for an unofficial visit that took place on September 27-28th where he saw the school close up. "It was just like I expected. DePaul has a real good campus," Butler said earlier when asked how his visit went. He was accompanied by Bloomfield assistant Kenny Pignatello on the visit and he was escorted around by Blue Demon Karron Clarke. Butler added, "I got to meet a lot of the players. They were real cool. I hung out with them."

Once he returned Wednesday night, he discussed his intentions with his family and coaches and made up his mind today. He thought it through and it became a done deal for West Virginia. "I'm real comfortable with it (the decision)," Butler related.

Next up for Butler is his SAT exam on Saturday October 8th. Then he can officially visit West Virginia.
