Guidry is the fourth member of the Blue Demons 2006 recruiting class. She joins Joliet Catholic Academy guard Samantha Quigley, Incarnate Word Academy's (MO) Felicia Chester, and Avondale High's (MI) China Threatt. Kayla chose DePaul over Memphis and Southeast Louisiana.
Guidry committed to Blue Demons coach Doug Bruno while on an official visit to the DePaul campus in Chicago this past weekend. Kayla averaged 15 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, and 3 steals per game for Peabody last season.
Kayla will be captain of her team this year at Peabody. She plays both the point guard and shooting guard positions. "Her strength is her shot," said Peabody assistant coach Debbie Brasher. "She's probably got the prettiest shot. I would think she probably averages 35 to 40 percent from the three point line and 50 percent in the paint."
Guidry is strong academically and chose DePaul for the university's Biology department.
