2008 Intro: Geneseo's Tyler Storm

Geneseo High's Tyler Storm is a prospect who hasn't captured much attention, but he hasn't escaped the eye of Division I college basketball coaches either. In this report, WeAreDePaul.com takes a look at one of the potential rising stars of the sophomore class in Illinois.

Tyler Storm, a 6-6 185 lb. sophomore small forward at Geneseo, IL high school is starting to make people take notice. In a 56-50 win over Kewanee last Friday night, Storm scored 20 points and collected nine rebounds. He followed up that performance with 19 points and seven boards on Tuesday night. Both of those games were on the road. He has a good nose for the basketball and has recorded two double-doubles so far this season.

While only a sophomore, Storm leads his team in rebounding. Tyler's best performance was in the conference opener versus Rochelle where he recorded 16 points, 13 rebounds, and 2 assists. This was in limited minutes as Geneseo defeated Rochelle 63-43.

Perhaps it's because of his location in Western Illinois, but it seems like Storm isn't getting the respect he deserves. At 6-6 he is still growing and is filled with potential. He may need to work on his perimeter game some, but he has knocked down a few three pointers.

Storm will continue to improve as he is a coach's son. His father Brad is the head coach of the Geneseo Maple Leafs.

Storm has received interest from Bradley, DePaul, Illinois, Illinois State, Indiana, Iowa, Iowa State, Northern Illinois, Northern Iowa, Wisconsin and Southern Illinois.

Tyler has already visited DePaul, during their Midnight Madness, and Iowa State. He is planning on taking more unofficial visits in the coming months and would like to come to see DePaul play Notre Dame on January 7th.
