Northwestern closed an early DePaul lead to 10-7 before the Blue Demons went on a 14-2 run over an eight-minute span. A jumper by Caprice Smith with 8:16 left in the first half put the visitors ahead, 24-9. The two teams traded baskets over the final eight minutes with DePaul taking a 39-26 lead at halftime.
Khara Smith totaled a 12-point, 10-rebound double-double in the first half to lead the Blue Demons. The senior forward leads the nation with nine double-doubles and is shooting .612 from the field in 13 games this season. She finished the game with 18 points and a career-high tying 17 rebounds.
DePaul (12-1) held Northwestern scoreless over a four-minute span early in the second half to build a 25-point advantage at 57-32. Caprice Smith's jumper with 5:31 left in the game gave the Blue Demons their largest lead of the evening at 73-44. The Wildcats scored 14 of the final 17 points of the game for the 78-58 final.
Allie Quigley dropped in a game-high 22 points with four assists and three steals while Caprice Smith just missed her second double-double with 16 points and nine rebounds. Jenna Rubino chipped in nine points with five boards and four assists while head coach Doug Bruno was able to play every member of the roster. Quigley's 27 minutes marked the only player to see more than 20 minutes of action.
Ifeoma Okonkwo led Northwestern (4-6) with 15 points while A.J. Glasauer added 12 points and Sara Stutz scored 10 points.
DePaul hosts Missouri State in the final non-conference game of the season on Dec. 28. Tipoff at the DePaul Athletic Center is set for 7 p.m.
