Koshwal Fresh Off Solid Performances

Nyal "Mac" Koshwal is ranked 42nd in Scout.com's Class of 2007. The 6-8, 240 pound big man is fresh off solid performances at the 2006 Reebok ABCD camp in Teaneck, NJ and at the Triple "S" Harley Davidson Jam Fest in West Virginia. WeAreDePaul.com's Dan Stack recently caught up with Koshwal and discusses his play, recruitment, and offers up some thoughts on the DePaul Blue Demons in this report.

One of the least kept secrets on the recruiting front for DePaul is the recruitment of Nyal "Mac" Koshwal. Koshwal is a 6-8 240 lb. center/forward from Boys To Men Math and English Academy in Chicago. Mac Koshwal recently had a great week while at the 2006 Reebok ABCD camp. His game drew the likes of many college coaches to come and see him, including DePaul Blue Demons head coach Jerry Wainwright and assistant Gary DeCesare.

Koshwal known as a low block threat with great activity around the hoop, also expanded on his game at ABCD Camp. He showed a good handle on the ball while also nailing down some three pointers. He showed some versatility to his game that I thought was lacking. For his rewards, Koshwal was named to the camp All-Star team. He had a decent showing in the game, scoring in double figures.

Mac followed up his performance at ABCD with another great outing at the Triple "S" Harley Davidson Jam Fest in West Virginia. In one game Koshwal rolled to 22 points on 10 of 15 shooting from the field and pulled down nine rebounds. Scout.com's national recruiting analyst Dave Telep was in the house for the performance and sees Koshwal as a player on the rise.

Koshwal is not yet close to a decision on his recruitment though. "They're in there," Koshwal referred to if DePaul is in the mix. He also said that Kansas, Oklahoma State, and Georgetown are after him.

Mac is very familiar with DePaul, with former Boys To Men Math and English Academy and Chicago Jaguars AAU teammate Thijin Moses as part of the Blue Demons, and he can see himself fitting in. "I think it would be perfect," said Koshwal. "My teammate, Thijin Moses, he's over there, and I think it would be alright."

Koshwal said he has had conversations with Wainwright and gets along well with the staff. "Jerry is a good guy. I really like the coaching staff," explained Mac.

Mac Koshwal is only getting better and DePaul would be fortunate if they land him. Koshwal will be competing with the Chicago Jaguars on the AAU circuit this summer.
