DePaul Men's Basketball Exhibition Games Set

CHICAGO – DePaul will play exhibition games against St. Ambrose (November 1) and Lewis (November 4) prior to opening the 2006-07 season Blue Demon head coach Jerry Wainwright announced today.

Both contests will be played at the DePaul's McGrath Arena on the school's Lincoln Park campus and game times will be announced at a later date.

St. Ambrose is located in Davenport, Iowa and finished the 2005-06 season with a 16-15 overall record including a 9-5 slate in the Midwest Classic Conference. The Blue Demons and Bees have met during the regular season nine times with DePaul winning the last six contests. The last meeting was an 85-67 Blue Demon victory on November 28, 1975 at DePaul's Alumni Hall. The last St. Ambrose win in the series was a 25-24 triumph during the 1928-29 campaign. This will be the first exhibition meeting between the two programs.

Lewis, which is located in Romeoville, Ill., was 13-14 last season and 7-12 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Flyers played 2005-06 exhibition games at Notre Dame (lost 59-40) and at Northern Iowa (lost 77-50). Lewis will have a new face on the bench in 2006-07 as Scott Trost was named the head coach on April 11. The Blue Demons have won all nine regular season meetings with the Flyers and took the only exhibition contest, 65-61 on November 9, 2002 at the DePaul Athletic Center.

The regular season portion of DePaul's 2006-07 schedule will open on November 11 when the Blue Demons travel to Peoria, Ill. to face Bradley. The home opener is November 17 when Eastern Illinois comes to the Allstate Arena.
