"The BIG EAST Conference is the premier basketball conference in the country and upon looking at our league schedule, it is evident that we will be tested each and every time we step on the floor," DePaul head coach Jerry Wainwright said. "By scheduling a challenging non-conference slate that we hope serves as a good preparation for the rigors of league play, we have given our players the opportunity to compete against the best the nation has to offer night in and night out. Our job as coaches is to get this group of young men ready to play at an extremely high level every time we take the court."
The Blue Demons will open the league season in January with a visit to Madison Square Garden against St. John's on the 3rd. After a trip to Villanova on the 6th, DePaul will have its conference home opener on the 10th when Pittsburgh makes it first-ever trip to the Allstate Arena in a game that will be televised by ESPN2. The Blue Demons will travel to Rutgers on the 13th before St. John's returns to Rosemont on the 16th. Louisville visits the Allstate Arena on the 20th for an ESPN contest and DePaul then ventures on a two-game road swing to Georgetown (24th) and West Virginia (28th). The Georgetown game will be televised on ESPN2. January concludes when Connecticut makes its initial visit to Rosemont on the 31st.
February opens with a trip to Syracuse on the 3rd before Notre Dame comes to Rosemont for the first of two meetings on the 8th. Marquette and DePaul will square off for the only time during the season on the 14th at the Allstate Arena followed by a two-game road trip to USF on the 17th and Notre Dame on the 20th. February will close with Cincinnati's visit to Rosemont on the 24th. Both Notre Dame games will be televised by ESPN.
The final regular season contest has USF invading the Allstate Arena on March 3. The annual BIG EAST Conference Tournament will take place on March 7-10 at Madison Square Garden in New York.
The non-conference slate was released in July and it features a pair of road contests to open the season (at Bradley November 11 and at Northwestern November 14). The home opener is November 17 when Eastern Illinois comes to town followed by the EA Sports Maui Invitational on November 20-22. The Blue Demons will open the tournament against Kentucky on the 20th. The entire tournament will be televised by ESPN2 and ESPNU.
December features home games against Kansas (2nd), Chicago State (6th), Wake Forest (13th), UC Irvine (20th), California (23rd) and Northwestern State (31st). The Blue Demons will also play two road games in December, at UAB on the 9th and at Rhode Island on the 16th. Both the Kansas and Wake Forest contests will be televised on ESPNU.
DePaul will also play two exhibition games prior to the opening of the regular season as St. Ambrose (November 1) and Lewis (November 4) will both visit McGrath Arena on DePaul's Lincoln Park campus.
Additional game times and broadcast outlets for games not set will be announced later in the month.
