Catching Up with Darquavis Tucker

A week has passed since Saginaw, Michigan standout class of 2007 guard Darquavis Tucker chose to play his college ball for the DePaul Blue Demons. In this report, the 6-5 180 lb. guard from Arthur Hill high school reflects back on his decision and looks ahead to his future.

40th ranked Class of 2007 recruit Darquavis Tucker is comfortable with his decision to join the DePaul Blue Demons in the Big East conference next season. "It was a pretty easy decision," said Dar Tucker. "I chose DePaul because they have a great coach, because Chicago has a lot of media there, and the academics."

The academics at DePaul University are important to Tucker. "I want to major in Education," Dar related. He'd like to be an elementary school teacher once his basketball playing career is over.

Dar is looking forward to joining the Blue Demons and stepping right in. "Coach (Jerry) Wainwright was happy about it," said Dar about his announcement. "He said I'd fit in perfect with the team. With Sammy Mejia leaving, I'd fill in the spot, I'd fit in perfect."

The day after Tucker verbally committed to DePaul, Boys to Men Academy big man Mac Koshwal chose to play for the Blue Demons too. It turns out that Tucker has known Koshwal since first meeting him on another school visit last year. "I know him a little bit," Tucker shared. "I went to an unofficial visit at Iowa State and he was down there. He was on his visit too."

For now, Dar is focused on leading Saginaw Arthur Hill to another Michigan Class A state championship. "I just hope we take the championship again."
