Farrakhan to Visit Illinois

Scout.com National Recruiting Director Dave Telep says that Mustapha Farrakhan is the best remaining shooting guard in the Class of 2007. The 6-3 guard from Illinois has begun taking his official visits as he eyes the upcoming November signing period. In this report learn which college campuses Farrakhan has visited and which two schools he is visiting next.

"We've got two more visits, we already visited Penn State and Vanderbilt," said Mustapha Farrakhan's father who is also named Mustapha. "We're heading to the University of Illinois this weekend."

After the visit to Champaign, Farrakhan is planning a visit to Virginia and Cavs coach Dave Leitao. "It's scheduled for the 11th," said Farrakhan.

Besides Penn State and Vanderbilt, Farrakhan had also considered Oklahoma and Oregon. Mustapha considered Oregon because former Thornton high school teammate Joevan Catron is a freshman there.

Farrakhan was recently featured in ESPN the Magazine. Mustapha first exploded onto the scene at the NBA Players Camp in Virginia in June. He then followed up with a solid performance at Nike Camp in Indianapolis in July.

With the November signing period looming, will Mustapha make a decision before the end of the signing period? "We're going to try to," Farrakhan said. "We loved Vanderbilt. Coach Stallings was good. He liked Penn State also with Coach DeChellis. Now Bruce Weber is making a late charge for him because of losing Eric Gordon. Virginia is also in the picture for the 11th."
