Two DePaul Recruits in 2007 Roundball Classic

Two future DePaul Blue Demons have been named to play in the 43rd Annual Roundball Classic All-Star game on April 3rd at the United Center in Chicago (7 p.m. CDT on CSTV).

Mac Koshwal and Darquavis Tucker will play in the Roundball Classic All-Star showcase along with the nation's best high school players. Both have committed to DePaul coach Jerry Wainwright for the class of 2007.

Mac Koshwal from Chicago Boys to Men Math and English Academy committed to DePaul in September. The 6-9 238 lb. forward is a native of the Sudan and is currently ranked as the 37th best overall player in the Class of 2007 by Scout.com. Koshwal was the MVP of the Chicago Prep Classic and has posted averages of 24.5 points, 13.6 rebounds and 5.6 assists per game.

Mac was a teammate of current DePaul freshman Thijin Moses last season. Koshwal also played along with Moses on the Chicago Jaguars AAU team.

Darquavis Tucker from Saginaw, Michigan Arthur Hill High School is a finalist for Mr. Basketball in Michigan. The 6-5 200 lb. swingman played for the Michigan Hurricanes AAU program that also produced DePaul Blue Demons Wilson Chandler and Jabari Currie. Dar Tucker is currently ranked as the 40th best overall player in the Class of 2007 by Scout.com.

Tucker led Arthur Hill to the Michigan Class A state championship last season. Tucker is a three time First-Team All-State player who was named to the Detroit Free Press Dream Team. He averages 27 points per game with 15 rebounds and 4 assists.

America's Original High School Basketball Showcase Returns to Chicago's United Center on April 3rd with Top-Ranked Players

CANTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sonny Vaccaro's Roundball Classic Presented by Rbk today announced the complete roster for its 43rd annual high-school All-Star basketball game. America's original high school All-Star Classic will be held at Chicago's United Center for the sixth consecutive year on Tuesday, April 3 and will tip-off at 7:00 p.m. This year's Roundball Classic will be sponsored by Rbk, The Chicago Sun-Times and Gatorade.

The Roundball Classic Presented by Rbk, America's original High School basketball All-Star game, features the top high school seniors in the country including O.J. Mayo (Huntington, WV), Kevin Love (Lake Oswego, OR), DeAndre Jordan (Houston, TX), Corey Fisher (Bronx, NY) and Taylor King (Huntington Beach, CA) competing against each other for one last time as high school athletes before they head to their respective colleges and universities. In addition, premier local talents, including Chicago-area standouts Nyal Koshwal (Chicago, IL), Evan Turner (Chicago, IL) and Demetri McCamey (Bellwood, IL), will make up the 23-man roster representing 13 states. Nick Mariniello of Bloomfield Tech (Bloomfield, NJ) and Loren Jackson of Boys to Men Academy (Chicago, IL) have been selected to coach the East and West teams respectively.

Founded by Sonny Vaccaro, the Roundball Classic has featured a number of basketball greats during its history. Among the list of current NBA stars who have appeared in the Roundball Classic as high school seniors are LeBron James, Shaquille O'Neal, Kobe Bryant, Kevin Garnett, Vince Carter and Tracy McGrady. The game has also generated more than $4 million for charitable programs. All net proceeds from this year's game will be donated to local Chicago charities including the Chicago Sun-Times Trust.
