DePaul's Jenna Rubino Selected in WNBA Draft

CHICAGO – DePaul senior guard Jenna Rubino was selected by the Chicago Sky in the 2007 WNBA Draft on Wednesday. She is the third player in the last three seasons selected in the WNBA Draft following Jenni Dant in 2005 and Khara Smith in 2006. Rubino was the first choice of the third round and the fourth pick of the afternoon for the Sky.

Rubino, the 27th overall selection, finished her DePaul career with 1,314 points, 552 rebounds, 319 assists and 175 career three-pointers. She played 127 games in her four-year career to tie for second all-time at DePaul and led the Blue Demons to a 95-32 record – the second-best four-year record in school history. Rubino was also ranked among all-time leaders in three-point field goal attempts (3rd), three-pointers (5th), three-point field goal percentage (11th) and scoring (14th).

Rubino joins former DePaul players Latasha Byears and Smith in preseason WNBA camps. Byears is starting her ninth season after averaging 4.3 points and 3.4 rebounds in 26 games with the Washington Mystics last season. The Chicago Sky opens the preseason schedule on Wednesday, May 2 against Phoenix in the first of three exhibition games before starting the regular season on Sunday, May 20 at New York.
