Rachel Pierson will sit out the 2007-08 season at DePaul. As a redshirt freshman for the Cyclones, Pierson started seven games, averaged 5.2 points and 3.3 rebounds in 15.7 minutes of play.
The 6-3 center sat out her first season with the Cyclones following just one regular season game and undergoing back surgery.
Pierson was named the Big 12 Conference rookie of the week for December 3, 2006 following an 18 point and nine rebound performance at Northern Iowa.
A St. Louis native, Pierson was named Miss Missouri Basketball for 2004 and 2005 by the state coaches associaton. She played on the same Incarnate Word Academy team as current Blue Demon freshman Felicia Chester.
