Hey Now, He's an All-Star

Future DePaul Blue Demon point guard Mike Bizoukas has dreamed of playing basketball on the Indiana All-Star team since he was a young boy. Bizoukas' dreams have come true as he has been playing with the finest the Hoosier state has to offer this month. WeAreDePaul.com catches up with Bizoukas in this report…

Michael Bizoukas was ecstatic to learn that he had been named to play for the Indianapolis Star Indiana High School All-Stars. "This is a dream come true to me," said the Munster High point guard. "I'm just taking it all in and having fun with the guys."

In Indiana they take their All-Star basketball seriously. Bizoukas and his 13 teammates have been living and breathing hoops at a training camp at DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana for the last two weeks. The All-Stars have played a series of exhibition games against the Indiana junior all-star team. Last Saturday, the Indiana All-Stars dominated the Kentucky All-Stars 97-79 in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

Bizoukas has enjoyed his time with teammates like Indiana Mr. Basketball Eric Gordon. "I'm getting to know all the different personalities, the way they act, who does what, how they practice, who practices hard and who doesn't," said Mike.

Bizoukas had one of his best performances against the junior all-stars in an exhibition at Purdue's Mackey Arena on Tuesday night. Mike was the first player off the bench for his squad and contributed seven points on three of four shooting from the field, two assists, two rebounds, and one steal.

The Indiana All-Stars wrap-up their play on Saturday night with a rematch with the Kentucky All-Stars in Indianapolis. The smaller Kentucky team will be looking for revenge. "We handled them pretty good," said Mike. "They're probably going to come at us at Conseco (Fieldhouse) and we want to defend out home court and go for the sweep. We'll be up for the challenge."

After the barnstorming All-Star team tour is over, Bizoukas plans on taking some time off from basketball to recharge the batteries before arriving at DePaul in mid-July. "I'm going to Florida, we'll see South Beach," said Mike. "It will be one last go around with all my friends from my hometown. It will be nice to relax before I have to get at it for real. I'll be ready for that challenge."

Mike Bizoukas knows that he'll have his work cut out for him once he officially becomes a Blue Demon. "That's going to be the biggest challenge of my life," Mike expressed. "I'm just looking forward to it. I'm going to attack it aggressively. I have full confidence in myself and we'll see what happens."

To be successful at the next level, Bizoukas knows that he'll need to work on strength and conditioning. "I definitely need to get a lot bigger because it's a long season with big bodies," related Mike. "I'm pretty skinny right now, but I can get bigger. I need to fine tune my game and get more efficient for the Big East. I'm going to keep working and hope for the best."

Bizoukas also plans on getting to know his new teammates better and has met some already. "I know Matija Poscic and Mario Stula," said Mike. "Matija came to Chicago to see me play at a Greek tournament. I'm rooming with those two guys, it should be fun."

Mike Bizoukas has his eyes to his future and hopes to make his mark on the DePaul basketball program. "Basketball is fun to me. I want to be the best I can."
