DePaul's Big East Basketball Foes Announced

Blue Demons will play Notre Dame, Providence and Villanova twice during the 18-game 2007-08 BIG EAST campaign.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - In the newly expanded BIG EAST Conference men's basketball schedule DePaul will play Notre Dame, Providence and Villanova twice each during the 2007-08 season the league announced today.

The Blue Demons will entertain Georgetown, Louisville, Notre Dame, Providence, Rutgers, Syracuse, USF, Villanova and West Virginia. DePaul will travel to Cincinnati, Connecticut, Marquette, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh, Providence, St. John's, Seton Hall and Villanova.

Game dates, starting times as well as television and radio coverage will be announced in the coming months.

The 2007-08 season marks the first time since the league expanded to 16 teams prior to the 2005-06 campaign that the league will play an 18-game conference schedule. Each team will play three teams twice and the remaining 12 teams once. The schedule sites will then flip in 2008-09 but two-time opponents may not remain the same.

DePaul head coach Jerry Wainwright welcomes eight letterwinners (three starters) and five newcomers to the program after a 20-14 (9-7 in BIG EAST play) season in which the Blue Demons advanced to the quarterfinals of the NIT, the deepest postseason run for the program since 1990.
