DePaul Adds Florida Gulf Coast to Schedule

CHICAGO – DePaul will entertain Florida Gulf Coast on Monday, January 21 at the Allstate Arena it was announced today by Blue Demon head coach Jerry Wainwright.

The contest was added to the Blue Demons slate to replace a previously scheduled game against Wyoming.

"At this late date I am not only excited but thankful that Florida Gulf Coast has been added to our schedule," Wainwright said. "The Eagles are an up-and-coming young program coming off a 27-6 season and will prove to be a great addition to our home schedule."

Florida Gulf Coast is in its first season as a member of the Atlantic Sun Conference and will return four starters and eight letterwinners including seven seniors from last year's 27-6 team that faced a predominately Division II schedule. The Eagles did play three games against NCAA Division I teams last year and were 0-3, losing at Drexel, Penn and Butler.

Along with DePaul, Florida Gulf Coast faces fellow BIG EAST member Marquette, Iowa, Arizona State and Drexel during the 2007-08 season.

DePaul opens the 2007-08 campaign on November 9 at Creighton. The home opener is slated for November 17 against Northwestern at the Allstate Arena.
