DePaul Rolls Past Cincinnati

CHICAGO – Allie Quigley flirted with DePaul's first triple-double since 1989 to lead the Blue Demons to an 81-51 win over visiting Cincinnati on Saturday. Quigley finished the game with 14 points, nine rebounds and eight assists as three players scored in double-figures and 25th-ranked DePaul won for the fourth time in the last five games.

Consecutive three-pointers by Deirdre Naughton and Missy Mitidiero fueled a game-opening 9-0 run as DePaul took control from the start. Kahla Roudebush ended the run with Cincinnati's first bucket at 15:33 to make the score 9-2.

The Blue Demons didn't let up as Ciara Johnson knifed her way through two Cincinnati defenders for a 23-2 advantage midway through the first half. Quigley followed Johnson with a conventional three-point play for a 24-point lead at 9:50. Quigley's bucket gave DePaul (15-4, 4-2 BIG EAST) its largest lead of the half before a three-pointer by Stephanie Stevens made the score 41-23 with a minute before intermission. Quigley knocked down a free throw and added a short jumper on the final possession of the half to give the Blue Demons a 44-23 halftime lead.

DePaul led by as many as 35 points in the second half and Cincinnati would get no closer than 25 points in the final 17 minutes of the game.

Quigley also added six steals while playing 25 minutes. Diana Vines is the last player at DePaul to record a triple-double. She totaled 25 points, 12 steals and 11 rebounds at Notre Dame on Jan. 24, 1989.

Naughton led DePaul with 15 points on 5-of-8 shooting from behind the arc. She added three assists and two steals while Natasha Williams registered a 12-point, 10-rebound double-double. The Blue Demons matched their season high with 13 three-pointers in the game.

Cincinnati (10-9, 1-6 BIG EAST) was led by 16 points from Stephanie Stevens and Kristi Brogan's 10 points.

DePaul continues its three-game homestand on Tuesday night when the Blue Demons host the No. 24/24 Syracuse Orange. Tipoff at McGrath Arena is set for 7 p.m.
