Quigley Named Big East Player of the Week

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Following games of 36 and 21 points against Georgetown and Notre Dame, DePaul's Allie Quigley picked up BIG EAST Player of the Week honors for the second time this season. Quigley is the second DePaul player in as many weeks to earn the recognition following last week's honoree Deirdre Naughton.

Connecticut freshman Maya Moore was named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week for the ninth time this season.

Quigley extended her double-figure scoring streak to 36 straight games while averaging 28.5 points and 5.5 rebounds in DePaul's 1-1 week. The senior guard shot 57.9 percent (22-of-38) from the field and was 6-of-10 from behind the arc. Quigley matched a season high for the second time in four games with 36 points in an 82-78 win at Georgetown on Feb. 20. She opened the game with eight straight field goals and sealed the win with a steal and a lay-up in the closing seconds. In a slim 66-64 loss against No. 14/14 Notre Dame, Quigley scored a game-high 21 points, went 4-of-7 from three-point range, while adding six rebounds, three assists and two blocked shots. She has now made 22 straight free throws against the Irish.

The weekly honor is Quigley's second this season and the third of her career. She picked up Player of the Week recognition in December following wins at Northern Illinois and Northwestern. She earned her first BIG EAST weekly honor last season after a career-high 37 points against Rutgers.

Last week, Moore averaged a team-best 24.5 points and 10.0 rebounds in UConn's wins over Marquette (95-63) on Feb. 20 and St. John's (98-41) on Feb. 23. The freshman forward shot 62.1 percent (18-of-29) from the field, made 7-of-11 attempts from 3-point range and was 6-of-6 from the foul line. Moore tied a season-high with 31 points on 11-of-15 shooting, while adding nine rebounds against Marquette. She did not miss a field goal until the 17:30 mark of the second half and opened the game a perfect 10-of-10. Moore then registered 18 points and 11 rebounds versus St. John's for her seventh double-double of the season. Moore has extended her UConn record of consecutive double-figure scoring games to start a career to 27.

DePaul travels to #5/4 Rutgers on Wednesday night before hosting #1/1 Connecticut on Saturday. Tickets are still available for Saturday's game against Connecticut. For more information, contact the DePaul Ticket Office at (773) 325-SLAM.
