Freeland Gets Ready for Visit

The November signing period is right around the corner. Tony Freeland, a 6-5 combo forward from Los Angeles, is looking to wrap up his recruitment and sign soon. Learn more about Freeland and where he will be visiting in the near future in this report.

Tony Freeland attracted the interest of a number of major basketball programs during the spring and summer evaluation periods. He has received interest from DePaul, Iowa State, Boise State, Oregon and Washington. As Freeland's recruitment winds down he plans on taking his first official visit to DePaul University in Chicago on November 8th.

Freeland first caught the eye of DePaul coaches while playing with the I-Can All-Stars during the spring evaluation period. Freeland's stock then rose when he was invited to the Reebok All-American camp in Philadelphia in July.

Tony is ranked the ninth best power forward on the west coast in the Class of 2009, by Scout.com's Greg Hicks. He has built a reputation as an athletic leaper, a solid rebounder, a guy who attacks the basket, and a tough defender. "I'm a slasher," Freeland said. "I'm aggressive. Everything is basically to the basket. I'm kind of shooting a bit more now. My strength is taking it to the basket. I'm working on my shot. People say I can't shoot, I've got to show them that I can."

Freeland is looking to sign during the November signing period and knows what he wants in a future school. "I'm looking for a school where I can work hard and is a good academic school," remarked Tony.

While in Chicago, Freeland plans on catching up with DePaul freshman big man Krys Faber. Faber and Freeland both played for the I-Can All-Stars. "That's my boy," Freeland said about Faber. "That's my buddy. He gives me all the scoop on DePaul. He says he loves it there."
