Heteniak Wins Big East Pitcher of the Year

For the second year in a row, DePaul hurler Becca Heteniak was awarded with the Big East Pitcher of the Year award. Also, the Blue Demon coaching staff won their second Big East Coaching Staff of the Year award in three years.

Heteniak won the conference's Pitcher of the Week award twice this year on her way to another highly successful season. She leads the team with 22 wins, ERA with a 1.63 ERA and in strikeouts with 196.

Along with Heteniak, senior third baseman Amber Patton was also named to the All-Big East First Team. Patton, who leads the nation with a .522 batting average, has been even more impressive in conference play. Her 82 hits are a Big East high, and she is a mere five hits from tying her own school record of 87. With a .569 on-base percentage, she leads the conference and is sixth in the nation. She also leads the team with 14 games of three or more hits.

Two more DePaul players earned spots on the conference's Third Team. Senior catcher Jackie Tarulli-Fisher and sophomore infielder Tara Voss represented the school, giving them a total of four players named All-Big East. This is both girls' second time on the third team, with Tarulli-Fisher earned her honor in 2007, while Voss earned hers last year.
