2011 Big Man Picking Up Offers

Chicago St. Ignatius forward Nnanna Egwu just keeps collecting scholarship offers this Spring. The 6-9 big man has made a mark for himself while playing on the AAU circuit with the 16-U Illinois Wolves.

Nnanna Egwu picked up his latest scholarship offer from DePaul coach Jerry Wainwright while on an unofficial visit on DePaul's Lincoln Park campus tonight. The offer was confirmed by Illinois Wolves head coach Mike Mullins via text message.

Egwu was accompanied on the visit by St. Ignatius assistant coach Ken Gryzwa.

Nnanna also boasts offers from Oregon State and four Big Ten schools – Illinois, Northwestern, Purdue, and Wisconsin.

Egwu is arguably the best center prospect in the class of 2011 in Illinois.

Right now Egwu's defensive game is ahead of his offensive game. He is known for his shot-blocking prowess.

WeAreDePaul.com's Scott Phillips recently scouted Egwu at the Hensley Memorial tournament in Fort Wayne, Indiana. "It sounds cliché to say that he is improving every time he plays, but Nnanna's feel for the game gets better and better every weekend," said Phillips. "In one stretch I saw he blocked or contested shots on five straight possessions and made it tough to bring the ball inside. He has improved leaps and bounds since last season."
