Hampton scored 11 of her team's first 18 points and Harry notched her 2nd collegiate double double with 16 points and 18 rebounds to lead the Blue Demons to a 89-50 win over the Big Red.
A three-pointer and three-point play by Hampton in the game's first 4:00 put DePaul up 18-8 and Harry scored her team's last four points of the first half as DePaul led 44-26 at the break. Hampton finished with 15 points and five rebounds.
"I have to try to be more consistent," said Hampton. "Last year [as a freshman] I never had a week or two where I could just rebound and just play my game. I was not focused. This year I think if I play every possession, my rebounding will come. If I focus on rebounding first, then everything else will come."
And while Hampton started strong, Harry finished just as strong. The 6'3" freshman scored nine points and had 12 rebounds in the second half.
"Katherine Harry came off the bench and gave us a big lift inside with her rebounding," DePaul head coach Doug Bruno said. "[Our rebounding] edge was huge. At halftime we were up six [rebounds] and we ended the game up 25 rebounds. "
The Demons out rebounded Cornell 52-27 for the game.
DePaul placed four players in double figures. Courtney Webb came off the bench to score 13 points and Jen Juergens added 11 points.
DePaul led by 39 points with 1:28 left to play.
Allie Fedorowicz led the Big Red with 14 points.
The University of San Diego defeated Tennessee State 79-45 in the first game. DePaul takes on the Torreros in the championship game at 7:30 p.m. CST Saturday night at McGrath Arena. The two teams have met once before, with DePaul prevailing in the 1982 contest. Cornell plays Tennessee State in the consolation game at 5:30 p.m.
