Pitchford is Coming Along

New Creations Prep forward Walter Pitchford signed with the DePaul Blue Demons in November and looks forward to being part of DePaul's freshman class for 2010.

Along with guards Moses Morgan and Brandon Young, Walter Pitchford hopes to be part of a 2010 class that will help turn things around for DePaul in the Big East.

The 6-9, 215 lb. forward committed to DePaul on October 5th, 2009 without even visiting the DePaul campus.

The Chicago native then visited campus a few weeks later for DePaul's Blue Madness. Pitchford has moved around during his lifetime. He was raised in Chicago, played his sophomore year at Oak Hill Academy in Virginia, his junior year in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and has settled in at New Creations in Richmond, Indiana for his senior year.

Pitchford chose DePaul over offers from George Washington, Michigan, and Minnesota and was also receiving interest from Arizona State and Georgetown.

Pitchford and his New Creations teammates have been making the circuit around the Midwest playing in tournaments against other prep schools and junior college teams this season.

Daniel Poneman caught up with Walter at a showcase in Springfield, Illinois last month. In this video report, Poneman interviews the 2010 forward and shows highlights of the future Blue Demon in action.
