DePaul Loses 9th Straight at Cincy

CINCINNATI, Ohio - Mac Koshwal posted his fourth straight double-double and Will Walker scored 24 points, but DePaul dropped a 74-69 decision to Cincinnati at Fifth Third Arena on Wednesday. The loss was the ninth straight for the Blue Demons.

After taking a 35-26 lead at halftime, Cincinnati increased its advantage to 13 points at 43-30 on a layup by Lance Stephenson just over three minutes into the second half.

DePaul (8-19, 1-14 BIG EAST) chipped away over the next six minutes and pulled to within four on a three-point play by Koshwal. Following his free throw, the Blue Demons trailed 52-48 with 10:03 remaining.

The two teams traded baskets over the next two minutes before a Krys Faber three-point play was followed by a jumper from Walker that put DePaul within two at 55-53.

That would be as close as DePaul would get as Cincinnati (16-11, 7-8 BIG EAST) would score 10 of the game's next 13 points for a nine-point lead at the three-minute mark.

Walker scored 21 of his 24 points in the second half as he led all scorers. Koshwal finished the night with 19 points, 12 rebounds and four steals for his 25th career double-double.

Yancy Gates led the Bearcats with 23 points and eight rebounds while Stephenson added an 18-point, 10-rebound double-double.

DePaul concludes the week and its regular-season road schedule on Saturday afternoon at Rutgers. The Blue Demons and Scarlet Knights meet for the second time this season with Rutgers taking a 68-64 decision at Allstate Arena on Feb. 16.
