DePaul Search Zeroing in on Oliver Purnell

DePaul Athletic Director Jean Lenti Ponsetto has been hunting for a proven men's basketball coach from one of the nation's top six conferences. She may have found her man in the Atlantic Coast Conference. Learn more in this report. has learned that the DePaul coaching search has zeroed in on Clemson coach Oliver Purnell. Purnell toured DePaul's Lincoln Park campus on Monday where he met with members of the DePaul administration.

Purnell's career record is 394-280 over 22 seasons. His record in his seven years at Clemson is 138-90. Purnell finished the last four seasons with 20 or more wins.

Prior to Clemson, Purnell worked at Dayton where coached the Flyers to a 155-116 record over nine seasons.

Clemson lost 86-78 to Missouri in the first round of the NCAA tournament and finished the season at 21-11 (9-7).
