DePaul Set to Hire Clemson's Oliver Purnell

WeAreDePaul.com has learned that the DePaul coaching search has zeroed in on Clemson coach Oliver Purnell. Purnell toured DePaul's Lincoln Park campus on Monday night. He talked with DePaul officials and today agreed to become the next head coach of the Blue Demons.

Purnell's career record is 394-280. He comes to DePaul with 22 years of head coaching experience at Clemson, Dayton, Old Dominion and Radford. His record in his seven years at Clemson was 138-90. Purnell finished the last four seasons with 20 or more wins.

Prior to Clemson, Purnell worked at Dayton where coached the Flyers to a 155-116 record over nine seasons.

Clemson lost 86-78 to Missouri in the first round of the NCAA tournament and finished the season at 21-11 (9-7).

Purnell's teams have always featured an aggressive full court pressure defense.
