Crockett Makes Decision

2011 wing Jamie Crockett has made his decision on where he will attend college next season. Learn more about the young forward in this report.

Jamie Crockett committed to DePaul University coach Oliver Purnell just a few days after visiting the Lincoln Park campus.

The Crete-Monee forward becomes Purnell's first verbal commitment as coach of the Blue Demons and the first member of the 2011 recruiting class for DePaul.

"I heard a lot of good things about the new head coach," Crockett said. "I liked how they treated me when I went down to visit. It seemed like a good fit for me."

Crockett chose DePaul over California, Dayton, and Western Michigan. He was excited to have put this decision behind him.

"This takes a lot of pressure off me, so I can focus on my school work," said Jamie.

Crockett is an athletic slasher who drives to the rim and will fit Purnell's system well.

"They told me they like to play an up and down game, an uptempo game," Jamie said. "They like a lot of athletes. He said I can fit in well with how he coaches."

Crockett plays on the AAU Circuit on the 17U Mac Irvin Fire team. Jamie hopes that he can help bring a few of his teammates along with him to DePaul.

"I'm going to talk to a few of them," said Jamie. "I'm trying to get a couple guys from the Fire like Mike Shaw, Macari Brooks, and a couple more."
