Decisions Ahead for Greene

Phillip Greene not only is trying to decide where he will play his college basketball in 2001, he is also deciding where he will go to high school for his senior year in the fall.

Greene is considering following his mentor and former coach at Julian – Loren Jackson to IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida for his senior year. He is also giving thought to returning to Julian.

"I don't know yet," said Greene. "I've got to talk to my family. IMG, that's a good situation."

WeAreDePaul.com spotted Greene in the stands at today's DePaul Team Camp at Attack Athletics on Chicago's West Side. While Greene's Julian team wasn't competing today, he was invited by DePaul to stop by and check out the action.

"The coaches asked me to come down here today," Phil said.

Greene also dropped by the DePaul Athletic offices last week to visit with DePaul coach Oliver Purnell.

"That's a good school," said Purnell. "I went up there, I liked all the coaches, the new coach – Coach Purnell. They said that I'd fit in right away."

Greene said that he has scholarship offers from DePaul, Indiana State, St. John's, Southern Illinois, and West Virginia. He is also receving interest from Bradley, Dayton, Oklahoma State, Purdue and UTEP.

Phil added that his favorites are Dayton, DePaul, St. John's, West Virginia, and UTEP.

"I'm looking to make a decision before my senior season, but I've got to talk with my family," said Greene.

Greene's plans for the summer encompass playing with Meanstreets on the AAU circuit in places like Merrillville, Indiana, and South Carolina.

He is also getting invitations to visit various camps this summer.

"I'm supposed to be going to the Purdue Elite camp," said Greene.
