Phillip Greene Leaving Julian

Julian High School guard Phillip Greene confirmed with today that he'll be transferring from Julian High School for his senior season. Greene also plans on visiting a Big East school in the near future. In this report, learn more about the Class of 2011 guard.

Phillip Greene plans on leaving Chicago Julian for the warmer climes at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida this fall. Greene will be following former Julian head coach Loren Jackson to IMG. Jackson accepted a job at IMG last month.

With that decision out of the way, Greene can now focus on deciding where he will go for college.

"I've got some new schools looking at me – Providence, Arizona State, and Oregon," said Greene. "My favorites are West Virginia, St. John's, DePaul and UTEP."

Once July is over with, Greene plans on focusing on that decision making process.

"I plan on making my decision before school starts," said Phil. "I'm supposed to be going to West Virginia on an unofficial (visit) on (August) 14th."

Greene has been turning in solid performances with his MeanStreets AAU team during the July evaluation period at Nike Peach Jam in South Carolina and at the Hoop City Classic in Kansas City.

It was in Kansas City last week that Greene scored 23 of his team's 59 points in a win over Spiece MoKan as he helped MeanStreets take home the 17U championship title.

DePaul head coach Oliver Purnell and assistant coach Billy Garrett were perched at center court tonight taking in Greene's play in a 61-38 beatdown of MPA Select of Indiana in the opening game of the End of Season Showdown in Merrillville, Indiana.

"The whole team's playing good," said Phil. "Everybody's playing together and stepped up, that's why we've had a good shot."

With Julian and MeanStreets, Greene plays off the ball at shooting guard, but Phil feels that he can play either guard spot on the floor.

"I'm a combo guy," said Greene. "I can play both. I can play wherever they want me to play."
