Alaniz Makes Third Duke Visit

Winchester, Va., native David Alaniz made his third trip to Duke this past weekend and hopes that his effort on the field as a senior and with the Blue Devil's coaching staff will net him an offer to the school.

David Alaniz, a 6-foot-6, 242-pound tight end from James Wood High School talked about his latest visit to Duke and the possibility of picking up an offer from them.

"I took my third trip to Duke this weekend and I'm hoping that this third one is the charm," Alaniz stated. "They wanted senior film, so I made the trip for a game and dropped it off in the process. The Duke coaches said that they're looking to sign one or possibly two traditional tight ends in this class and that I'm still high on their list. Essentially they just want someone with great size that can block and has soft hands and I think I fit that bill."

"I'm staying focused and working as hard as ever right now," Alaniz said. "I've been handling a lot of recruiting calls right now with plenty coming from I-AA schools as well. A few of them said they were looking at my senior film this week and would be getting right back to me."

As a junior, Alaniz caught 15 passes for 160 yards and three touchdowns. He plays in a run-heavy offense which ran for a school record 2900 yards last season with him behind a big part of the help along the line. He was named first-team All-Area and second-team All-District at tight end and was also a MJF All-Star selection and a part of the Winchester Star Fantasy High School Football Team.
