Ohio Linebacker Gets Pseudo Offer

Mason (OH) senior linebacker Erich Meyers is coming off a successful season for the Comets, and his work on the field, combined with a strong academic record, is attracting college interest. Meyers is hoping to finalize his college plans over the next month. Bill Greene has the story on Meyers.

Erich Meyers might not be the most well-known linebacker in Ohio, but the Mason senior had an excellent season and is drawing recruiting interest. Meyers is also an excellent student in the classroom, which adds to his value.

"My strength is my ability to lead on the football field, and I'm a very smart player," he explained. "I have the ability to run sideline-to-sideline, and I can make plays. I want to increase my strength, and be a more physical middle linebacker out on the field."

Meyers, 6-foot-1, 220-pounds, discussed where things currently stand in his college recruitment.

"I have an offer from Hillsdale and Malone, and I have visited Brown University," Meyers stated. "Duke has offered me a preferred walkon status. I have a 3.7 GPA, and I scored a 30 on the ACT, so that really helps as well. I'm also hearing from Albany."
