Three Star WR Has A Plan

Blair Holliday says he's ready to put recruiting behind him once Signing Day arrives.

He flew under the radar a bit during the early part of his career, but now Westlake Village (Calif.) Oaks Christian receiver Blair Holliday is hearing from a number of programs hoping to strike recruiting gold in the final days for the class of 2011.

However, the Duke coaching staff knows exactly what they've got on their hands and don't appear eager to let go. And neither is Holliday.

"I think my official visit to Duke really made things clear for me. There was a feeling that I just belonged and I knew it was right for me. I'm solid to Duke and can't wait to sign my letter."

Such a declaration is good news for Blue Devil faithful as the talented receiver will immediately push for a spot in the regular rotation of receivers. But, the more immediate source of relief is that Holliday appears to be turning down the advances of his hometown school, UCLA.

"It was funny because UCLA has called a couple of times, but it has been them calling me. Not the other way around. I've told the Duke coaches I'm solid and I am. It isn't like I've wavering in my commitment. I'm just as solid as I was when I committed to Duke."

After pledging to the Devils in August, Holliday was able to focus strictly on football, and he ended up playing a huge role for the Lions this year. In fact, his 2-point conversion in the final minute of the CIF-SS Northern Division title game gave the Lions a win over Westlake, and are arguably the most important points scored in Oaks' short but storied history.

"We played with a chip on our shoulder since that game and every game, we just thought about what Westlake did and it motivated us," said Holliday, who's been a part of a CIF champion before. "This was the biggest win I've ever had and the biggest play (the winning 2-point conversion), I ever made."

Holliday caught 71 passes for 969 yards and 14 touchdowns this season for the Lions, rushed for 95 yards on 11 carries and a touchdown, and threw a touchdown pass.
